The township of Emerald is in an attractive semi-rural area, situated on the southern slopes of the Dandenong Ranges and is approximately 62 Kilometers from the City of Melbourne.
The Emerald Community House offers a wide range of locally based and locally managed programs and services which are ever-changing in response to community needs. We offer a range of adult education courses which are funded via ACFE for those who wish to further their education, learn new skills or refresh existing skills before returning to work or study. Our general education programs cater for a wide range of interests. We offer courses in:
- Adult Education (including but not limited to employment training including computer training, personal development, literacy and numeracy and hospitality courses).
- General and Recreation (including but not limited to courses in health and wellbeing, arts and crafts, fun and relaxation, young persons programs, first aid and environmental care).
Very importantly, the House provides a warm, friendly and non-discriminatory environment with services such as:
- Community information
- Referral, support and resources
- Free community internet access
- Occasional childcare
- Out of School Hours Program (offering before & after school care in conjunction with Emerald Primary School).
- Playgroup
