ACFE TUITION FEES for Government funded programs have been set in accordance with ministerial fees and directions.  All ACFE courses are government subsided and are aimed towards developing workplace skills and  creating  employment opportunities. ECH ensures a high standard of pre-accredited training through qualified instructors and encourages students to pursue Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Recognition of Current Competency (RCC). All ACFE funded courses cost $1.08 per hour plus any materials and amenity fees required.  Health Care Card and Pensioner Card holders may be eligible for a concession rate.  Please inquire at time of enrolling.

Permaculture Design (Day Course) - funded by ACFE

This 147 hour Permaculture Design Course (PDC) will suit many levels of needs, including those wishing to design their own property or seeking employment, or wishing to continue onto other accredited courses.  Consider doing this course if you simply wish to enhance the way you live on this earth in order to save resources and/or money.  The course is subsidized by ACFE and will be conducted both Emerald Community House and at Telopea Mountain Permaculture (Monbulk).  This is a real chance to learn and gain 2 certificates in this 16 week course (21 sessions).  Numerous tutors will cover the concepts of a full Permaculture design including zones, sectors, the ethics and principles of Permaculture.  At the conclusion of this course participants will complete and present a design to the class to complete this certificate. 

Pathways: There are pathways to either the Certificate III, IV or Diploma of Permaculture, which is conducted through Eltham College Training Services (who are the only providers in Australia licensed to conduct these courses).  For example, on successful completion of this course you could apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for approx. SIX Units out of the 11 units in the Diploma/Cert. IV courses.  Further information can be obtained during the course.

This 90 hour course has been especially designed by Pete to provide an avenue for training for those who are unable to attend the daytime course from Term 1.  It will run on 14 nights from 6:30pm to 10:00pm.  In addition there will be 6 Sunday sessions running all day.

Beyond PDC – Advanced Permaculture Skills - funded by ACFE

Suited to students who have already completed a Permaculture Design Day or Night Course and wish to develop their skills to the next level.  Topics will cover, animals, trees, agriculture, grafting, BD compost, worms, soils, no-dig, Swales building, design and property visits.

  

Everyday Literacy and Numeracy through Cooking - funded by ACFE

Targeted to those with special needs, participants will learn the fundamentals about food safety and handling including use and sanitising of equipment, preparation and storage of ingredients and food types including dairy, dry goods, fruit and vegetables, meat, seafood and poultry, hygiene procedures, identifying and prevention of high risks, and handling of waste items.  They will incorporate this knowledge through practical cooking demonstrations and cooking their own recipes. Topics will cover menu planning using seasonal produce, healthy eating incorporating the 5 food groups, preparing a shopping list, managing money and purchase of goods at local shops.  Participants will make-up their own recipe book of favourite dishes and learn how to prepare and cook them finishing with a group meal everyone has prepared to enjoy together.

Developing your Skills for the Workplace - funded by ACFE

Targeted to those with special needs, participants will learn how to make a variety of natural and environmental crafts that interest them such as soaps, recycled paper and cards, tie dying, beaded sun catchers, felt craft, basket weaving and how to present them for sale.  Students are offered to run their own stall once every month at the Emerald Market to sell their creative works and gain confidence within a community environment.
