volunteering
Emerald Community House relys on the valuable contributions of our volunteers. We have a volunteer Committee of Management, who welcome new members to be involved in House governance and be involved in the many community strengthening activities that ECH has become famous for. There are also many other opportunities that exist within the daily operations of the House.
We can offer our volunteers a stimulating environment, working in reception, database management, IT support, event management, course development, childcare programs, general maintenance projects, fundraising and grant writing, to name a few.
Volunteering connects people to the local community network and increases skills and confidence. Many people who volunteer at Emerald Community House have acquired new skills that have led them on to paid work. This has been valuable for people who are earning Centrelink payments, returning to work or looking for a career change.
Our friendly, energetic staff offer an exciting and dynamic work experience and are always ready to assist volunteers on the job. Cardinia Shire Council also supports our volunteers with training costs for first aid, book keeping, food safety and computer applications. Other benefits from the House include $100 ECH services voucher for regular volunteering of 120 hours minimum per year (the equivalent of 3 hours per week) and inclusion in the Volunteer of the Year awards.
ECH staff and volunteers are our most valued assets and are equipped with a "can do" attitude.
There's something for everyone, so reward yourself, volunteer today and be part of the local solution for community needs.
